Mr Donald Lamont has been appointed Governor
to the Falkland Islands and Commissioner for South
Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. His most
recent post was as Chief of Staff in Sarajavo and
previously Ambassador to Uruguay. Obs : Mr Lamont has
a long standing interest in the Islands, having
worked in the Falkland Islands Department in the
Foreign and Commonwealth Office for three years
from 1982. (Governor since 12 May 1999) Governor appointed by the
monarch. Overseas territory of the
United Kingdom. This is not recognized by
Argentina, which considers the Islas Malvinas to be
