Education : Graduated from the Refrigeration Junior College in Leningrad, (now St. Petersburg), USSR in 1972 and the Food Technical Institute in Odessa, USSR in 1980. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in philosophy from the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow, where he studied from 1984 to 1987.
